Original poster depicting a scene from the ballet The Red Detachment of Women. This was one of the 8 ballets permitted during the Cultural Revolution and was engineered by Jiang Qing, wife of Chairman Mao Zedong. Originally a film released in 1961 it was later adapted for opera.
